Message I didn't follow those guidelines like I wanted to. I literally got the car together in time to leave for the track event. I put about 30 miles on it here locally in town to make sure there weren't any immediate issues with leaks or failures - I didn't really boost it all that much in that time. But when we left to make the 2hr trip to gainesville, I was making some short boosted pulls from time to time. I dialed the electric water pump controller down to raise the coolant temp to around 212F to run her in hot (thin oil and higher temps help to get things worn in). There were 220 miles on the engine when I arrived at the track event.

So far, the issues I've come across are relatively small; I've dealt with many more bugs in other cars in the past after they have been assembled by other people. Nothing has been a result of improper assembly but I'm not going to think I'm through the woods yet. Unfortunately with highly modded Z's, I dont think you ever really do get out of "the woods".

I'm pretty confident in the motoman break-in procedure. Sure he could just be making it all up and sending who knows how many people down a perilous path, but I'm willing to take that chance. I have a pretty firm understanding of the points made in their break-in procedure and it makes a LOT more sense to me than the "run it easy for 1000 miles and then rape it" process that most tend to adamently follow.

I haven't run a leak-down test as of yet but I will be getting to that in short time. All of the cylinders were spot-on at 135psi of compression prior to running the engine. This may seem unreasonably low, but I have done a lot of modifications to the heads, pistons, and the camshafts are the 500-series JWT units. I was actually anticipating the compression to be a hair lower than this but I'm not concerned about it. I'm just interested to see what the leakdown numbers are after 500 miles of driving it like I expect it to perform during its service life. I would expect nothing more than a 4% leakdown - if it is higher than this, I will be concerned.
